Blog #5 My own topic
After reading the supplemental readings and powerpoint, many things began to run through my mind. Although I have never experienced a miscarriage or abortion, I have a close cousin who has experienced several abortions. Unfortunately many women do not realize the damage and long-term effects that abortions can cause to one's body. The body is extra sensitive and requires great care in order to remain in good health. Abrortions and miscarriages put a strain on the body, due to physical, mental, and emotional changes that one undergoes. While some women are able to concieve no matter how many abortions or miscarriages they undergo, others struggle to become pregnant. After undergoing many abortions, my cousin is one of the many who is unable to concieve. This has changed her life signifigantly.Being that she is a newlywed, she has endured the many ongoing reiminders of the effects that her and her husband will have to deal with. In doing so, I am proud to say that they are currently in the proccess of adopting two twin girls. I know that these two little angels will serve as a bundle of joy to these two love birds!

You mentioned that there are physical damages associated with abortion. I remember reading once that women who have abortion are prone to have breast cancer. The theory being that hormones are changing cells in the breast to get them ready to nurse a baby and when aritificially stopped, the unformed cells become cancer cells. I have always known the psycological damage abortion can cause, but never really thought about the physical damage an abortion could cause in the 21st century where they are leagal and have qualified doctors performing the abortion. Thank you for sharing your story. I think women aught to know all the consequences before having to face that choice.
ReplyDeleteI agree that abortions are very harmful to the reproductive system. Abortions also have damaging psychological effects. I researched the harm of abortions and one website stated that women often suffer from a condition known as Post-Abortion Syndrome. This consists of alcohol abuse, depression, damaged self esteem, and personal relationship problems (Planned Parenthood 2007).
ReplyDeleteI think it would be beneficial for clinics that perform abortions to follow up with the patients and evaluate their psychological and physical conditions.
